Hi,
I’m playing catch up here having had a crisis at work and then going to the eFest conference. I must say I was a bit disappointed in the conference. Does anyone know one with a more online learning focus? I am planning to attend DEANZ next year and someone in the team will get to MoodleMoot but I am really interested in what other people are doing in online learning and how they cope with the many frustrations/challenges that can be thrown at you.
I plan to run my online conference on DimDim. My guest speaker is Anton Pienaar, an instructional designer from South Africa who I work with and who has run and facilitated classes online. He and I are both exploring how learning can occur in forums and I am planning something along these lines for the online conference. I think it will interest other participants in the course as we will look at forums and how you can use them to improve the learning experience for students.
I’m hoping to go to DEAN next year too – must get a paper submitted. But these days I learn more and have more discussions about elearning from my online networks eg Twitter, blogs etc than I ever do at conferences.
I’m really liking DimDim – look forward to seeing how you get on with it.

I tried DimDim at work with and wasn’t able to upload a powerpoint – it just froze. I’ve decided to try it from home instead as I have good broadband speed which I will do this afternoon. Am just working out times that suit Anton to be at the conference. Hopefully I will have all this together by tomorrow so I can advertise the meeting and update the Conference page. Interesting comment you made about Twitter etc. I still feel like I am skating over the whole online network thing. I spend so much time on a computer at work it is often the last thing I feel like doing when I get home as well. But I suppose it is just getting into it – right?
